DOMAINE GLANTENAY

Domaine Glantenay is located in Volnay, 3 miles south of the other famous city of Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy. Founded during the 16th century, Domaine Glantenay has been kept in the family for six generations and it is now Guillaume, son of Pierre Glantenay, who runs the estate along with his sister, Fanny. Today the 20-acre estate includes vineyards in Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, Monthelie and Chambolle-Musigny.

 

The Domaine uses sustainable viticulture in order to respect the nature and preserve the notion of terroir for each vineyard in each “appellation”. The Soil is regularly plowed to encourage the roots to go deeper in search of nutrients. The harvest in entirely done by hand and sorted tables are systematically used at the winery to insure the pristine quality of the grapes.

The “vinification” winemaking process, lasts 3 to 4 weeks in temperaturecontrolled vats. The reds are then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels. On average 30%-40% new oak barrels are used for the ageing. The bottling is done exclusively by gravity to preserve the wine’s integrity.

 

The Domaine is focused on the finesse and elegance of its wines while letting the Terroir express itself.

TASTING NOTES:

THE WINE HAS A BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT PALE YELLOW ROBE. ON THE NOSE  THE BOUQUET EVOKES FRESH AND ACIDULOUS FRUITS. SLIGHTLY LEMONY. ON THE PALATE, A GOOD LIVELINESS ANS A LOT OF FRESHNESS. A PLEASANT BALANCE BETWEEN VIVACITY AND SOFTENSS, FOR A WINE OF CHARACTER TO TAST IN HIS YOUTH.

VINIFICATION: 

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE. 100% MANUALLY HARVESTED WITH SELECTIVE SORTING, SORTED ALL BY HAND.

TASTING NOTES:

GOLDEN HIGHLIGHTS WITH A SIMILARITUDE TO MEURSAULT. ITS LEMONY AROMAS BLEND WITH NOTES OF WHITE FLOWERS, REINETTE APPLE AND FRESH HAZELNUT. IN THE MOUTH ITS MELLOW TASTE IS BACKED BY THE DEGREE OF ACIDITY WHICH IS ESSENTIAL IN GREAT WHITE WINES.

PINOT NOIR 2015

VINIFICATION: 

THE VINES ARE TENDED BY HAND AND ARE CONSISTENTLY MONITORED DURING THE YEAR IN ORDER TO KEEP THE AMOUNT OF TREATMENTS REQUIRED TO A MINIMUM.

TASTING NOTES:

ON THE NOES, FRESH RED FRUITS AROMAS, THE WINE IS WELL ROUNDED WITH LIVELY FRUIT ON HTE PALATE. IT IS ALLURINGLY PERFUMED WITH SUPPLE TANNINS.

THIS WINE IS WELL BALANCED WITH A GOOD BODY AND A LONG FINISH. THE TANNINS ARE SMOOTH YET FRIM. AROMAS OF VIOLET, REDCURRANT, CHERRY AND AFTER A FEW YEARS OT SHOWS SPICY, GAMEY AND PRUNE FLAVORS.

CHAMBOLLE MUSSIGNY 2013

VINIFICATION: 

GRAPES ARE MANAGED AND MONITORED, HARVESTED AND SORTED ALL BY HAND. FERMENTATION TOOK PALCE IN TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED STAINLESS STEEL TANKS. THE WINE WAS MATURED IN 30% NEW OAK BARRELS FOR 15-18 MONTHS.

TASTING NOTES:

CHERRY IS THE OVERWHELMING PERFUME ON HTIS PREMIER CRU, BLACK CHERRIES ARE SUPPORTED BY BLACKBERRIES AND RASPBERRIES. LOVELY TANNINS AND BEAUTIFUL FINESSE.
